Senator Lindsey Port Celebrates Investment in Burnsville, Savage Drinking Water Improvements

ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Sunday, May 17, the Senate passed a comprehensive, bipartisan $1.2 billion bonding package (HF 719 passed 60-7 and HF 2484 passed 52-15). The two bills invest in Minnesota’s shared state assets like public colleges and universities, water and sewer systems, roads and highways, and more. It includes $2.75 million for improvements at the water treatment plant that serves Burnsville and Savage, chief authored by Senator Lindsey Port (DFL-Burnsville).

“I am delighted that the 2026 bonding bill will provide safer, cleaner and more reliable drinking water for our district,” said Senator Port. “The water treatment plant was built in 1976 and needs our investment to ensure that our tap water is healthy and good to drink. This thoughtful project will increase our water treatment capacity, improve the taste and smell of our water, and have a positive impact on our environment by reducing use of the wells connected to nearby wetland habitats. I am proud to have been an advocate for this funding and look forward to seeing the project break ground. I’m also happy to see $3 million for Highway 13 safety and traffic improvements, and I will continue to fight for the funds we need to complete this project.”
