ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Tuesday, May 7th, the Minnesota Senate passed House File 4247, which contained numerous healthcare licensure proposals and scope of practice modifications, including several authored by Senator Liz Boldon (DFL-Rochester):

  • SF 1743 – Creates licensure processes for certified midwives
  • SF 2982 – Establishes licensure for speech-language pathology assistants
  • SF 3500 – Expands the scope of practice of specialty dentists
  • SF 2656 – Speech-language pathologist and audiologist interstate compact

After the legislation passed with bipartisan support, Senator Boldon released the following statement:

“During my time at the Legislature, one of my priorities has always been expanding access to healthcare and increasing the quality of care in our state. I am a strong supporter of HF 4247 and its efforts to address workforce challenges in Minnesota because it gets us closer to those goals. The improvements contained in these bills will help ensure that providers are qualified and competent, and help connect folks in our state with the right provider and right care for all of their healthcare needs. I want to thank Senator Melissa Wiklund for including these important pieces of legislation and many others in HF 4247.”

House File 4272 was passed with unanimous support in the Senate, 66-0.
