Senator Melissa Wiklund Issues Statement on Shooting at South Education Center

Senator Melissa Wiklund (DFL – Richfield) issued the following statement Tuesday after one student was killed and another student was injured in a shooting outside South Education Center on Tuesday afternoon in Richfield:

“Our hearts are with the South Education Center community right now. This is saddening and tragic, and my deepest sympathies go out to the parents and friends of the student who lost their life. I hope the student in critical condition will feel the support and healing prayers we send. I will be in touch with the Superintendent of ISD 287 and the City of Richfield about how I can provide support for those who have been affected, particularly the families, friends, and educators. My thanks to law enforcement, first responders, and school officials for their quick response. This is an immense loss for our community, and I will be holding the Richfield SEC family in my prayers.”
