Senator Pappas Statement on Sunday’s Mass Shooting in Saint Paul

One person was killed, and 14 others were injured during a mass shooting at a bar in downtown Saint Paul early Sunday morning. Three men have been arrested in connection with the tragedy.

In response, Senator Sandra Pappas, DFL-Saint Paul, released the following statement:

“This appalling tragedy is a stunning admonition of the fact that a mass shooting can occur anywhere, even in our own community. My heart aches for all the victims and their families who have had to endure this calamity. I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Marquisha Wiley, a 27-year-old veterinary technician who was killed during the shooting on Sunday.”

“Gun violence should not be considered an acceptable everyday feature of American life. This only strengthens our resolve to fight for the enactment of strong, common-sense gun safety laws.”
