Senator Patricia Torres Ray Statement on Shooting at South Education Center 

Following a shooting that took place yesterday outside South Education Center in Richfield, MN that claimed the life of one student and injured another, Senator Patricia Torres Ray (DFL-Minneapolis) released the following statement: 

“My heart aches for the parents, family, and loved ones of the young student who died as a result of gun violence yesterday in Richfield, Minnesota. This tragic loss and the unimaginable grief that follows is something a parent should never have to experience. 

As the community surrounding South Education Center and the City of Richfield processes this trauma, I will continue to hold you all in my heart and offer my support. And to the student who was injured and their loved ones surrounding them, may you find strength, healing, and perseverance during this time. Additionally, I extend my gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement, and school staff who have and will continue to support their community with courage and compassion.”
