After 49 years of service with the state of Minnesota, most recently as Legislative Auditor, James Nobles has announced his retirement, effective October 5. Senator Ann Rest (DFL-New Hope) released the following statement.
“The Office of the Legislative Auditor has an extraordinary responsibility in providing oversight and accountability of state government for the Legislature. In his time as Legislative Auditor, James Nobles has served faithfully and effectively in fulfilling this mission. Under his leadership, the OLA has done exemplary work in ensuring that state government is working on behalf of Minnesotans, and the office remains independent of political bias even as it thoroughly reviews program areas, financial audits and conducts special reviews. I have served on the Legislative Audit Commission for over 30 years and five times as its chair. I cannot think of a finer public servant than Jim Nobles. I want to congratulate him on his 49 years of service to our state, and wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement.”
