Senator Sandy Pappas and Representative Rena Moran Issue Statement Following Media Availability on ERA Compliance Legislation

Senator Sandy Pappas and Representative Rena Moran hosted a media availability today to discuss newly proposed legislation to conduct a review of Minnesota statutes and codes to align with the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Following the availability, the two legislators released the following statement:

“Women have waited far too long to be recognized as equal under the law,” said Senator Pappas (DFL – Saint Paul). “Today, we took an important step forward in the effort to enshrine equal rights for women in our state. I am committed to moving ahead on this issue to make sure that Minnesota takes the necessary actions to guarantee gender equality in our legal system.”

“Today is a pivotal day in our multi-generational movement to secure equal rights as we join women all across the country to take the next steps to comply with the ERA,” said Rep. Rena Moran (DFL – Saint Paul). “We’re putting forth a very simple bill, but it’s a bill that will have a profound impact on women everywhere who deserve equality under the law, under our constitution, and within our culture.”
