Senator Saxhaug named to Explore Minnesota Tourism Council

State Senator Tom Saxhaug, DFL-Grand Rapids, was named to the Explore Minnesota Tourism Council this week. Tourism generates $11 billion a year to Minnesota’s economy and as a member of the Tourism Council, Senator Saxhaug will play a significant role in expanding Minnesota’s tourism industry and creating jobs.
The Explore Minnesota Tourism Council will be focusing on awareness, marketing, diversifying and growing funding, expanding public policy development, and developing a stronger partnership with state parks and trails to create a positive impact on Minnesota’s tourism industry.
Being a leader in natural resources policy and economic development, Senator Saxhaug was a natural choice as a councilmember. As the Explore Minnesota Tourism Council expands its public policy development, Senator Saxhaug will help move new ideas forward. “I am looking forward to serving on the Council,” Saxhaug said. “Our tourism industry is important, not only to our area but all of Minnesota, supporting over 230,000 jobs. I am pleased to play an important role in continuing to grow this vital industry in our state.”
