Senator Kathy Sheran has been appointed to serve on the Senate Rules Committee’s Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct. She was chosen to serve on the subcommittee by Senate DFL Caucus Leader Tom Bakk.
The subcommittee will be called to investigate a complaint if made by another Senate member. It can also serve in an advisory capacity to Senate members or staff concerning conflicts of interest.
“I believe in an authentic process to address concerns regarding Senators’ ethical behavior,” Sen. Sheran said. “The process is critical to upholding respect for this office. I will work to be fair and impartial, and to seek out the truth, if an issue arises.”
Sen. Bakk noted that he chose Sen. Sheran specifically because she is recognized as fair and open-minded.
“Sen. Sheran is recognized by her colleagues on both sides of the political aisle as a fair, open-minded legislator who has a background necessary for understanding issues surrounding conflicts of interest that may be brought before the subcommittee.”
