Senator Sparks to Advocate for Area Bonding Projects

Austin, Minn. – The Minnesota Senate Capital Investment Committee will stop in Albert Lea and Austin on Tuesday, November 5. The committee will tour several projects that have requested state bonding funding. As a member of the committee, Senator Dan Sparks (DFL-Austin) will be advocating for these projects as legislators get a firsthand look at area needs.

“These are important projects for our area, and it’s immensely valuable for my colleagues on the committee to see them firsthand,” said Senator Sparks. “State investment can be the difference in whether or not a project happens, and I will join the advocates from our community to stress how vital it is that we fund these projects.”

Several projects will be toured in Senate District 27. In Albert Lea, the committee will hear presentations on three projects:

  • Flood Mitigation for East Main Street – US Trunk Highway 65
  • Blazing Star Trail
  • Blazing Star Landing

In Austin, the committee will hear presentations on four projects:

  • Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements
  • 4th Avenue Riverview | State Water Trail Enhancement
  • Ramsey Scientific and Natural Area Site Improvements
  • Hormel Institute Expansion
