ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Wednesday, Senator Steve Cwodzinski (DFL-Eden Prairie) presented his education omnibus bill (SF 1311) to the Education Policy Committee. The bill is a combination of the Minnesota Department of Education’s proposed policy changes along with several provisions heard as standalone bills in the Education Policy Committee before being added to the omnibus bill.
“These are the policies our students, educators, and communities need to ensure every Minnesotan child receives a world-class education in a safe, welcoming environment,” said Senator Cwodzinski. “When we adopt restorative, non-exclusionary discipline practices in our schools; honor and uplift the diversity in our classrooms; give students and teachers what they need to succeed in the classroom and in life; and meet the needs of the holistic child; then we can say with pride that Minnesota is an education state and a state that puts students first.”
The committee passed SF 1311 to the Senate floor.
