ST. PAUL, Minn. – Today, Minnesota Management and Budget released a budget forecast projecting a positive budget balance of $7.7 billion for the current two-year budget cycle. In response, Senator Susan Kent (DFL-Woodbury) released the following statement:
“This forecast is positive news for Minnesota and presents us with an historic opportunity to make thoughtful decisions to help those who have struggled most during this pandemic – our frontline workers, families, and small businesses. Let’s support working families with investments in accessible childcare, affordable housing, and health care. And as the Senate author of the Paid Family and Medical Leave bill, I’m committed to finally implementing a statewide plan that will ensure no one has to choose between a paycheck and caring for a new baby or a sick loved one. We must invest in a strong future for Minnesota.”
