ST. PAUL, Minn. — Yesterday, Governor Walz, House Leadership, and Senate Leadership released an agreement on global targets for the 2025 legislative session. The agreement included cutting healthcare coverage for undocumented Minnesotan adults.
Senator Susan Pha (DFL – Brooklyn Park) released the following statement:
“Yesterday’s budget agreement was a devastating blow to our undocumented and immigrant communities,” said Sen. Pha. “I do not support the removal of undocumented Minnesotans from MinnesotaCare coverage and am disappointed that Republicans are using people’s health and lives as a bargaining chip.
“It was very clear that Minnesota’s Republicans are Hell-bent on removing our undocumented neighbors from MinnesotaCare. Their cruelty is unbelievable. People needing cancer treatment, insulin, dialysis, and many other life-saving care will suffer, and some will die because of this decision. I hope anyone involved in this decision feels the shame of their actions.
“Today, fellow legislators and I stood with community members to hear their devastating health care stories. The People of Color and Indigenous Caucus and our allies continue to work on this issue, and the fight is not over. I encourage you to organize and let legislators know how devastating this health care cut is to families in communities all across Minnesota.”
