Senator Tou Xiong Named Co-Chair of State and Local Government Committee

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Senator Tou Xiong (DFL – Maplewood) has been named Co-Chair of the Senate State and Local Government Committee.

Senator Xiong released the following statement:

“The Senate State and Local Government Committee reviews legislation regarding our state agencies and local government units. Our committee members scrutinize government agencies and programs and uphold the dignity of the workers who ensure our government functions,” said Sen. Xiong. “I look forward to working with all committee members towards our shared goal of responsible governance.”

“I would like to mention the late Senator Kari Dziedzic, who led this committee in 2024. I am in awe of her work and legacy in the Senate and am honored to take on this role. Senator Dziedzic’s presence is greatly missed, and I am resolute about leading our committee’s work for the people of Minnesota.”

Senator Tou Xiong represents Senate District 44 which includes Little Canada, Maplewood, North Saint Paul, Oakdale, Pine Springs City, and Landfall. He is vice chair of the Energy, Utilities, Environment, and Climate Committee and serves on the Capital Investment Committee and the Housing and Homelessness Prevention Committee.
