Senator Tou Xiong Statement on US Justice Department Prosecution of Local School Employee Accused of Using AI to Create Child Sexual Abuse Imagery and Possession and Receipt of Child Pornography

Senator Tou Xiong (DFL-Maplewood) released the following statement:

“Like many of my neighbors, I am shocked and disturbed by the alleged crimes by a staff member at ISD #622. Crimes against children are a violation of the public’s trust, and I am saddened and outraged for those potentially victimized by a staff member of our local schools.

I want to thank Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick for bringing this case forward and seeking justice for any victims involved. I am also grateful to the United States Secret Service, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Maplewood Police Department for conducting the investigation.”

Investigators believe there may be other victims relevant to this investigation. If your child has been in close contact with Micahel Haslach, and/or if you or your child is aware of Haslach taking a photo of your child, please contact the Minnesota BCA’s Tip Line at 651-793-2465 or email bca.tips@state.mn.us.
