Senator Zaynab Mohamed Secures Nearly $20 Million in Funding for Minneapolis Bonding Projects

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Senator Zaynab Mohamed (DFL—Minneapolis) announced Monday evening that she secured $19.6 Million in bonding appropriations for Minneapolis infrastructure projects and community organizations.

“This bonding bill is a huge win for the Southside,” said Senator Mohamed. “I’m proud to have secured funding to build and renovate key Southside infrastructure such as the Nicollet Bridge, the Latino Economic Development Center, and a new Indian Health Board Medical Facility. Our city and state are at their best when we take a public investment approach to improving our infrastructure.”

Senator Mohamed authored and passed the following bonding projects: 

  • $3.9 Million for Nicollet bridge repair and renovation
  • $4 Million for construction of an Indian Health Board Medical Facility
  • $3.5 Million for CLUES Latino economic development center
  • $1.9 Million for expansion of the emergency operations center and fire training facility
  • $1 Million for Mni Sota Fund
  • $5 Million for Agate
  • $300,000 for Pangea World Theatre
