Yesterday, the Minnesota Judicial Special Redistricting Panel released new district boundaries. While Senate District 61, represented by State Senator Jeff Hayden (DFL-Minneapolis), was renumbered as Senate District 62, the district’s lines were left largely unchanged.
Retaining all of its previously-held neighborhoods, the district has expanded to include the rest of Lyndale and Kingfield neighborhoods, and now encompasses a portion of Tangletown.
Hayden said he is pleased with the new district lines. “They are respectful of the need for our communities of interest to have a strong voice at the Capitol,” he said.
Hayden noted that while the district is rich in diversity, it also has the shared goal of making the community a better place for everyone. He added, “I am excited to get to know the newest members of the district so that we can work together to move our community and state forward.”
