Survivor Support

A bill moving through the legislature would provide grants to non-profits that offer grief counseling and support to survivors. In the aftermath of tragedy brought on by homicide, suicide, accidental death, or other traumatic events, survivors often find themselves struggling to deal with the repercussions of such life-altering events. Increased funding of $500,000 over two years would allow the programs and organizations like Survivor Resources which handle these sensitive matters to expand their programs and reach more people who are hurting in the wake of violence and loss. The bill was heard on Tuesday, and was laid over for possible inclusion in the Judiciary Omnibus Budget bill. (S.F. 210)
