Senator Liz Boldon on Senate Republican’s Vote to Block $1.5 billion in Public Works Funding for Statewide Infrastructure Needs

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – In Senate floor action on Thursday Senate Republicans voted down more than $1.5 billion in public funding for local infrastructure, public housing, higher education assets, and other projects throughout the state that would create good-paying union jobs in Rochester and every corner of Minnesota. “This is only the latest sign that Senate Republicans are unwilling to put the needs of people above politics,” said Senator Liz Boldon (DFL-Rochester).

Senator Grant Hauschild Expresses Disappointment over Blocked Bonding Bill

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Senator Grant Hauschild (DFL — Hermantown) said today that he was disappointed that Senate Republicans rejected a $1.5 billion bonding bill that would have funded job-creating public works and infrastructure projects across Minnesota. The bill failed to meet the supermajority of 41 votes necessary to pass, with DFL Senators voting yes and all Republican Senators voting no.

Senate DFL Caucus Jobs Bill Puts People Back to Work

Today, Senate DFL Leader Susan Kent, Senate DFL Capital Investment Lead Sandy Pappas, Assistant DFL Leader Senator Jeff Hayden, and Assistant DFL Leader Senator Nick Frentz unveiled their 2020 jobs bill at a Capitol press conference. With less than two weeks left of session and no bonding hearings scheduled in the Senate, they expressed an urgency in getting a bonding bill passed.
