Sen. Maye Quade Presents Legislation to Protect, Compensate Children in ‘Content Creator’ Families

ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Thursday, Feb. 22, Senator Erin MayeQuade (DFL-Apple Valley) presented a bill to the Senate Labor Committee that expands the rights of children who are featured in profit-earning content shared on social media or the internet (SF 3496). The bill would ensure these children — some of whom are too young to understand that their image is being shared online — receive fair compensation, reduce coercive practices, and codify the right to have their image removed from the internet, among other protections.
