Moorhead Senator Offered Amendment to Fully Repeal Social Security Tax

ST. PAUL, Minn. — On Tuesday, the Minnesota Senate passed an omnibus tax bill that provides more than $4 billion in tax cuts, the largest such bill in state history. The bill includes significant targeted tax relief for seniors, families, homeowners, and farmers. Another piece of the bill designates $325 in funding for cities and counties to pay for public safety measures.

This bill would appropriate $15 million to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture for the establishment of a rainy-day fund for farmers if a grain elevator failure were to occur. A bill to allow consumers the right to seek repair services for electronic equipment independent from the original manufacturer

This bill would allow independent repair companies access to repair information so consumers can seek repair options outside of the original manufacturer. Tuition-Free College Passes in Senate Higher Education Committee

Bill would help nearly 60,000 Minnesotans attend college without tuition or fees

SAINT PAUL, MN – A bill to create a tuition-free college program for tens of thousands of middle- and low-income Minnesota students passed the Senate Higher Education Committee on Tuesday. The legislation would fund grants for all Minnesota resident students with a family adjusted gross income of $120,000 or less. Prior to the hearing, several DFL Senators spoke in favor of the proposal.
