Senator Alice Mann Applauds New Funding for Local Nursing Homes

First round of over $1 million in aid arrives to Sen. Mann’s district

SAINT PAUL, MINN. – Senator Alice Mann (DFL-Edina) announced that on August 1, local nursing homes received the first of two rounds of significant funding from the state to help stabilize their finances. This package is the result of a bipartisan agreement to provide economic assistance to nursing homes that are facing financial hardship.

Senate Passes Senator Alice Mann’s Transformational Bill to Implement a Statewide Paid Family Medical Leave Program

ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Thursday, the Senate passed the final version of the bill to establish a statewide Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) bill championed by Senator Alice Mann (DFL-Edina). The legislation will give workers access to paid leave for parental bonding, their own medical condition, to care for a family member, for a qualifying exigency, or safety leave event.

ST. PAUL, Minn.–Senator Alice Mann (DFL-Edina) released the following statement today:

“Earlier this week, I suffered from a medical emergency. I was diagnosed with cholecystitis, inflammation of the gallbladder. My doctor informed me that I needed emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. While the timing is not ideal, I am recovering without complications from this painful surgery. At the advice of my doctor, I will be spending the next two weeks away from the Capitol.

Senator Alice Mann’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Legislation Passes off the Senate Floor 

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – On Monday, the Senate passed HF 2, to establish a statewide Paid Family and Medical Leave program in Minnesota. The legislation, chief authored by Senator Alice Mann (DFL – Edina), would allow all non-temporary workers the opportunity to access paid leave for parental bonding, their own medical condition, to care for a family member, for a qualifying exigency, or safety leave event.
