Senate DFL Leader Susan Kent on Governor’s Peacetime Emergency Extension, Stay Safe Minnesota Executive Order

Governor Walz announced the extension of the peace time emergency, that allows the Governor to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic quickly and effectively, until June 12. Additionally, the Governor announced the Stay at Home order, set to expire on May 18, will be replaced with a Stay Safe Minnesota executive order encouraging Minnesotans to stay close to home and limiting social gatherings to no more than ten people.

Senator Bigham Introduces Waiver System for Safe Business Operation During Peacetime Emergency and Votes Yes for Small Business Relief

To allow for the safe operation of businesses during the COVID-19 crisis, a bill was introduced establishing a waiver system allowing businesses that create plans and are deemed low-risk to safely re-open. The system would be in place for the duration of the peacetime emergency.

Governor Walz announced the extension of his executive order directing all Minnesotans to stay at home and limit movements outside their homes. While restaurants and bars will remain closed the order allows additional businesses to safely open. The extension will be in effect until Monday, May 18.

Today, Governor Tim Walz announced the extension of his executive order directing all Minnesotans to stay at home and limit movements outside their homes to only essential needs. The extension will be in effect from Friday, April 10 to Monday, May 4.
