Transportation Chairs Hornstein and Dibble Applaud Governor’s Transportation Proposal

St. Paul – The Transportation Committee Chairs in both the House and Senate – Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL-Minneapolis) and Sen. Scott Dibble (DFL-Minneapolis) commend Governor Mark Dayton for starting an honest discussion about how to stabilize Minnesota’s budget and provide for Minnesota’s long-term economic growth and prosperity.
“This is a whole new day,” said Senator Dibble. “We have a Governor providing leadership from the outset; a Governor that is making investments in a multi-modal transportation system a key part of his vision for Minnesota’s economic future and vitality.”

The Governor’s proposal would raise additional resources to realize the long standing transit vision for the entire metropolitan area, fund road improvements directly related to economic development, and provide for rehabilitation and safety improvements on aging roads and bridges across the state.

Rep. Hornstein applauded Governor Dayton for “his bold leadership today,” citing the proposal as “an amazing start in our shared goals of creating greater prosperity and quality of life to attract and retain the workforce for the modern economy. We look forward to the legislative debates and public hearings that will come next.”
