With inaction continuing this week from Senate Republicans on the important issues facing Minnesotans, Senate DFLers proposed a comprehensive approach to one of the most pressing concerns facing our communities.
On Tuesday, Senate DFLers announced a comprehensive package of public safety measures that would invest more than $500 million in proven strategies to reduce and prevent crime. The suite of bills invest in diversion, prevention, and innovations in public safety, and provide real resources for law enforcement, community groups, and criminal justice partners to ensure they have the tools they need to reduce and prevent crime.
We also continue to work with our colleagues in the House and Governor Walz to deliver. Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan released their revised supplemental budget last week, and we will work with them in continuing to make investments to expand economic opportunity, protect Minnesotans’ health and safety, and support children and families.
While Senate Republicans would rather focus on headlines, Senate DFLers are focused on proven solutions to the issues facing Minnesotans. With time in our legislative session running short, we must do the work necessary to ensure everyone feels safe in their communities, create an economy that works for everyone, and deliver a world-class quality of life for Minnesotans.
